Össur Global Headquarters | Restaurant Midgardur

Het bedrijf Össur, onderdeel van Embla Medical, ontwerpt en produceert high tech protheses, bionische handen, braces en andere hulpmiddelen voor het menselijk lichaam. De onderneming, met vestigingen over de hele wereld, kent haar oorsprong in het IJslandse Reykjavik, waar het hoofdkantoor is gevestigd. Sinds 2018 werkt Dreessen Willemse Architecten aan een meerjarig masterplan voor uitbreiding en vernieuwing van het hoofdkantoor en de bijbehorende productiefaciliteiten. Hierin spelen de nieuwe hoofdentree met het bedrijfsrestaurant Midgardur en de nieuwbouw en herinrichting van de R&D werkomgeving een sleutelrol.

In het masterplan werd voorgesteld om de hoofdentree met bedrijfsrestaurant, zoals dat ook in het Europese hoofdkantoor in Eindhoven een centrale rol speelt, te verplaatsen naar het entreeniveau van het naastgelegen gebouw. Op deze wijze komen personeel en gasten binnen in een uitnodigend en sfeervol restaurant genaamd Midgardur, genaamd naar het stadspark van Reykjavik. Het restaurant heeft een capaciteit van ca. 250 personen en heeft een professionele bedrijfskeuken. Iedereen komt hier naar toe voor een goede kop koffie met een lokale lekkernij, de warme lunch of avondmaaltijd. Hier ontmoet iedereen elkaar, of je nu te gast bent, op kantoor werkt of in één van de ploegdiensten van de productiefaciliteiten werkt. Er is ook ruimte voor informeel overleg in de treincoupé‘s of hoekjes van het restaurant, of juist formeel in de grote vergaderruimte. De tuinkamer Eden kan worden afgesloten voor bijvoorbeeld presentaties aan grotere groepen. In een 30 meter lange maatwerk wand zijn treincoupé‘s en displays geplaatst, maar ook de verschillende buffetten en doorgangen naar keuken, spoelkeuken en sanitair. Het meubilair van het restaurant is flexibel: de stoelen zijn stapelbaar, de tafels opklapbaar en andere tafels in hoogte verstelbaar. Zo wordt Midgardur ook gebruikt voor grote personeelsbijeenkomsten en bedrijfsfeesten.

Staff and guests enter an inviting and atmospheric restaurant called Midgardur, named after Reykjavik's city park. The restaurant has a capacity of approximately 250 people and has a professional kitchen. Everyone comes here for a good cup of coffee with a local delicacy, a hot lunch or evening meal. Everyone meets here, whether you are a guest, work in the office or work in one of the shifts at the production facilities. There is also room for informal consultations in the train compartments or corners of the restaurant, or formally in the large meeting room. The Eden garden room can be closed off for presentations to larger groups, for example. Train compartments and displays have been placed in a 30-meter-long custom wall, as well as the various buffets and passages to the kitchen, utility room and sanitary facilities. The restaurant's furniture is flexible: the chairs are stackable, the tables are foldable and other tables are height-adjustable. Midgardur is also used for large staff meetings and company parties.
